Through our tourism initiatives, we help to nurture economic development in Staten Island. SINY lessens the burdens on government and cultural institutions by marketing the Borough for tourism and economic development, and supporting Staten Island's educational, cultural, historical and charitable institutions.  What we do... Spotlight on SINY  SINY produces events, carries out partnered programs, and helps Staten Island institutions and groups promote their programs. Partnered events include the Staten Island Film Festival and local cultural festivals.  SINY also serves as a conduit for bringing together local groups for mutually beneficial outcomes. These efforts include service learning projects, which joins our institutions of higher learning with not-for-profits and businesses.  Cultural efforts include participation in the Staten Island 350 project, an anniversary celebration of the Island's first permanent European settlement; major state campaigns, such as the Hudson River Quadricentennial, and All American Day.  SINY conducts its own events and promotions, such as the popular Pizza Tour, the Tri/Du-athlon, and promotional contests geared toward our college students.  SINY has been instrumental in developing this website, providing the Borough with its own dedicated tourism website. We also operate a tourism kiosk in the Whitehall Ferry Terminal and assisted in the installation of a high-definition television screen that continuously plays a 9-minute tourism video.  SINY participates in many outreach activities to increase awareness about Staten Island and what the Borough has to offer. We have participated in several annual events, including the Richmond County Fair, Back to the Beach, the SIEDC Business Partnership Conference, and the TD Bank Five Borough Bike Tour. Outreach also includes dialogue at functions and events, and surveys to assess feedback about Staten Island.  |

SINY's mission is to enhance the lives of Staten Islanders by supporting the Borough's cultural institutions, parks, and other attractions, all of which add richness to the experience of living, doing business, and visiting here. We seek to provide information and to educate young people and visitors to the Island about the storied history, culture, and diversity of our Borough.
