This “mini-Smithsonian” is rich with arts, natural sciences and local history. The Museum’s extensive art collection has pieces ranging from Ancient Egyptian to Modern works and its extensive Natural Science Collection includes minerals, a “Cabinet of Curiosities,” and examples of native animals. Visitors can also experience the life of the Lenape, the first Staten Islanders. With artifacts dating back 12,000 years, this is the most comprehensive exhibit about the region's Native Americans in New York City. Just two blocks from the Ferry Terminal, artifacts from the iconic Ferry’s first 100 years of municipal service are on permanent display. Changing art and history exhibits ensure the Museum is always alive with wall-to-wall excitement.
